The meth cookoff is underway again this year with over 30,000 participants.

The 23rd Annual Meth Cook-off is being hosted in the meth capital of the Deep South, New Iberia, Louisiana.

Last year’s winner, Troy Duplantis, is a strong contender to reclaim his crown after selling his 1997 Chevy pickup to fund the construction of a state of the art meth lab. Participants will be judged on clarity, size, technique, color, lab decor, and spirit.

Patrons from the entire tri-parish area, including some who flew in from Mississippi, are filled with excitement as they go tent to tent in an effort to try these new products. This festival is said to be a contender along with the Gumbo and Jambalaya cook-offs that are commonly held in the same area.

Wayne Toups was scheduled to perform but couldn’t get a travel visa in time to pass the checkpoint.
The festival goes on until 2am Monday morning. Wristbands will be provided at the gate. There will be face-painting and bounce houses for the children as this is a family event.
